TO THE ATTENTION OF HISTORY EDUCATION MASTER AND PhD STUDENTS

For new enrollment students (master's and PhD) who will enroll for the course for the first time

On the course selection screen, we click on the Curriculum/Non-departmental courses tab and select TARİH EĞİTİM (YL) if we are a graduate student, and TARİH EĞİTİM (DR) if we are a PhD student and click on the show all courses button. Below are the points you should pay attention to.

The advisors of those who will start the program are the Head of the Department until their advisors are appointed.
First of all, the compulsory courses of the program must be taken.
Required Courses

Ph.D. 1st Semester New Approaches in History Education

Ph.D. 2nd Term The Nature of History and Its Place in Education

Master's 1st Semester Making and Learning History

Master's 2nd Term History Teaching and Textbooks

 

One of the courses must be "Scientific Research Methods and Ethics" (if it is taken in a master's degree, it is not necessary to take it in a doctorate).
A minimum of 30 ECTS and a maximum of 40 ECTS courses can be taken in a semester.

For graduate students who are in the course stage but have not yet entered the thesis stage and whose advisor has been assigned;

They are required to choose 30 ECTS Courses (including Master's Thesis Preparation and Seminar course).
Select the "Master's Thesis Preparation" course opened on behalf of their advisors.
They must choose the "Seminar" course (Seminar Course should be chosen by students who have passed the 2nd semester. Students in the 1st semester should not choose this course.)
For those who have completed the Master's course;

They are required to choose "Master's Thesis" opened on behalf of their advisors.
For doctoral students who are in the course stage but have not yet reached the thesis stage and whose advisor has been assigned;

They are required to choose 30 ECTS courses (including Doctoral Thesis Preparation and Seminar course).
Select the "PhD Thesis Preparation" course offered on behalf of their advisors.
They must choose the "Seminar" course (Seminar Course should be chosen by students who have passed the 2nd semester. Students in the 1st semester should not choose this course)
For those who have completed the PhD course period and have not yet taken the proficiency exam

Choose the "Qualifying Exam" course at the earliest 3rd Semester, at the latest 5th Semester.
"Preparation for the Doctoral Thesis", which was opened on behalf of his/her advisors, should be selected.
For those who have completed the PhD course period and passed the proficiency exam

The “PhD Thesis” opened on behalf of their advisors should be selected.

IMPORTANT!

Choose your History Education courses from the "History Education" page, and your education courses from the "Education Partner" page. For "Education Partner" courses, please click https://egtbil.gazi.edu.tr/view/announcement/295184?type=1&item=egitim-ortak-programi-dersleri-2022-2023-guz.
Do not ignore the "Compulsory-Elective" phrases in the History Education field courses on the course selection screen.
Do not consider ECTS because some of the courses in History Education are written incompletely.
“Scientific Research Techniques and Ethics” course is compulsory in graduate programs. The student who takes this course in the master's degree does not have to take it in the doctoral program. This course will be selected from the Joint Education Program (MA) after going to the Curriculum-Non-departmental courses tab. Doctoral Students will also choose the course from the same page. You only need to choose your course by taking into account the DR or M.Sc. phrases next to the course while choosing the courses.
Students who are not appointed as advisors cannot register for Thesis Preparation, Thesis Study, Proficiency Exam, Seminar, Term Project courses.
Master's Thesis Study/PhD Thesis Study and Master's Thesis Preparation/PhD Thesis Preparation Courses should not be confused with each other. Thesis Study is chosen by graduate and doctoral students who have completed the course period. Thesis Preparation Course, on the other hand, is a course that should be chosen by graduate and doctoral students who are still in the course phase and whose advisor is appointed.
Training courses must be selected under the Education Joint Program heading. The curriculum of the education courses is announced on the page of the Institute of Educational Sciences.
The maximum duration of the master's program with thesis is 6 semesters, and the doctorate program is 12 semesters. A student who cannot complete his/her graduate education within these periods is dismissed from the Institute. Courses in master's and doctoral programs must be completed in four semesters.
Those who want to make any changes regarding course registrations should reach their advisors during the approval of the advisor (19-21 September 2022) or during the Add-Drop Period (13-14 October 2022). On these dates, the system will be closed to you and will be open only to your advisors. The student who does not give approval will not be able to give approval by his/her advisor.
